Who we are
I'm Shane, and I started Trueline Building because I wanted the quality of my building work to always be down to me.
There are no shortcuts in building. You're dealing with a house, you're dealing with people's lives, you're building a structure that somebody's going to live inside.
The building code is set up for the minimum. That's the minimum you have to do to pass your inspection, and on the things that matter, I'd rather go further. If something's not right, I've got no problems pulling it apart and doing it again.
Renovating a home is one of the most stressful things you can do, so it's my job to make sure it goes as smoothly as possible. The warning signs are when nothing gets communicated, and then all of a sudden, things start coming at you out of the blue. I don't work like that. If something comes up, it's my job to stop work and talk it through with you there and then. Some builders just keep going and don't say anything, and then there's a week's worth of extras, when it could have just been a day.
Building terminology is like a foreign language to someone who doesn't build, so I keep things as simple as I can. The client is the most important person in the whole process, and it's my job to see you through to the end.
Whatever the job is, we're creating a life for somebody, and I think that's really special. It's a journey we take on, together.
My values when it comes to working with you:
-
You're paying for work that's done properly. The building code is the minimum, and on the things that count, I go further. If something isn't right, it gets pulled apart and done again.
-
The worst part of any build is when things go quiet and then problems land on you all at once. That won't happen with me.
If something comes up, I'll stop and talk it through with you straight away, in plain English, so you always know where things are at. -
Every client and every home is different. Before anything else, I want to get clear on what matters to you, so we build the right thing.
-
Having work done is disruptive, especially if you're living in it.
So we agree start and finish times up front, I keep the site tidy at the end of every day, and I make sure you're comfortable with the people coming into your space. -
I'd rather take a bit longer and get it right than rush it and leave you with something that isn't.
If you're not happy with it, then I'm not finished.
